StrataWx is now sold through the iniBuilds Store.

Utah, United States, 14 August 2026. StrataSim Designs today announced that StrataWx, its real-time weather engine for Microsoft Flight Simulator, is now sold through the iniBuilds Store. Three listings went live there on 13 August 2026, and StrataSim Designs is the named vendor on all three.

StrataWx has been sold direct since launch, and through SimMarket. iniBuilds is the second marketplace to carry it, and the listings there include the both-simulator licence as well as the two single-simulator editions.

The listings

All three carry the same application. What differs is which simulator the licence unlocks.

Prices are as listed on 14 August 2026 and exclude VAT, which iniBuilds adds at checkout where it applies. Their store is the only place those figures are current.

What it changes for a buyer

Nothing about the software, and that is deliberate. There is no marketplace build, no delayed build, and no reduced build.

• The same application. One code-signed Windows installer, updated automatically over our own update channel, on the same version as everybody else. The build current on the day of this release is 1.3.13.
• Keys we issue ourselves. A licence bought at iniBuilds is minted by StrataSim Designs and validated against the same licence service as a direct purchase, so activation, the three-install allowance and the offline grace behave identically.
• The same support queue. Tickets go to stratawxfs.com/support and reach the same people, whoever you bought from.
• Free updates, still forever. Buying a simulator's licence once covers that simulator's updates for good. Nothing here is a subscription.
• Your contract of sale is with the store. Where you buy from a reseller, that reseller's terms and refund policy govern the purchase. Your licence and your support are the same either way.

Why a second storefront

Most people who fly a simulator do not start their week at a small studio's website. They start it at a store they already have an account with, and a weather engine that only exists on its own domain is invisible to them.

iniBuilds describes itself on its own site as follows: "Headquartered in London, iniBuilds is a cutting edge game studio, specialised in the design and development of various assets for simulation in both the video game space and for wider commercial uses." Being listed there is a distribution arrangement rather than an endorsement, and we would not describe it as anything more than that.

What StrataWx is

StrataWx is a signed Windows desktop application paired with a lightweight in-simulator panel. Together they run one pipeline, continuously, for the whole flight:

1. Aggregate. Live surface observations from around the world, upper-air conditions through the whole column, and an offline worldwide airport and runway database.
2. Model. A coherent atmosphere: winds aloft, temperature and the freezing level, cloud layers and structure, visibility and fog, surface pressure, convection, turbulence, and icing.
3. Inject. That atmosphere is applied to the running simulator, and changes are eased rather than switched, so conditions move instead of snapping.
4. Follow. As the aircraft moves, StrataWx re-resolves the weather for the new position and looks a short distance ahead along the track.

Alongside live weather it runs a historical mode that replays past conditions from reanalysis data, a sandbox for conditions you author by hand, and a hybrid mode that lays today's real winds, temperature and pressure under a sky you set yourself.

Availability

StrataWx is available now for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, direct from stratawxfs.com, from the iniBuilds Store, and from SimMarket. It requires Windows 10 or 11, x64. A separate build for X-Plane 12 is in development and on pre-order.
